The Rose Center

Housed in a Victorian schoolhouse, Rose Center is the cultural and performing arts hub of the Lakeway area. It features an art gallery, classes, musical performances and much more. Annual events such as Spring Thyme in the Garden, From Africa to Appalachia exhibit and the annual Holiday Craft Sale and Open House call the Rose Center home. It is also the location of the award-winning Mountain Makins festival, a celebration of Appalachian culture and folk life.

Live Theater And Performing Arts

Founded in 2006, Encore Theatrical Company produces six to eight mainstage shows a year. Past productions have included Follies, Inherit the Wind, Cabaret, Steel Magnolias, Spamalot, August: Osage County, and The Full Monty to name a few. Founded in 1934, the Morristown Theatre Guild is one of the oldest community theaters in Tennessee. The Guild presents four to five shows a year. Driving Miss Daisy, Guys and Dolls, On Golden Pond, Camelot and The Odd Couple are a small sampling of past productions. The Niswonger Performing Arts Center in neighboring Greeneville features performing arts for all tastes, from traveling troupes to symphony orchestra performance, Broadway musicals and plays to concerts by major artists.

Historic Downtown Morristown

Morristown’s National Register Historic District is the home of the only overhead sidewalk system in the United States. Known as the Sky Mart, you’ll find an entrepreneur and business incubator center, shops and residences. The street level is lined with a multitude of antique, specialty and clothing boutiques in addition to outstanding eateries, a sweet shop and a bakery. The Morristown farmers market is located within the district and operates six days a week March through December.
